Hello Dale et all.....well, I've made it through my EA and last night, Oct 19th, after 3 hours of wonderful work by my new Lodge Brothers I was raised to Master Mason....had over 30 Brothers in attendance, the officers of two lodges with 4 lodges represented@!....what a wonderful experience that will last me a lifetime!.....to top it off my wife made us a wonderful Italian dinner including desert!.....she also included a large plastic bag filled with oats and straw, her note said that the "goat" deserved a meal too!.....my brain is still full, processing everything but I know that I am in the right place and the right time for being a Mason.....after being on this planet for 55 years being a Mason is going to be a wonderful tool, in mind, body and spirit, for the next 55 years!.......

Woah. If anyone had said that to me during the Investigation, I wouldn't have joined.
Brothers in my lodge have varied views on the nature of the Divine, and my Jewish brothers certainly don't subscribe to resurrection.

Interesting thought regarding Pantheism, it does not have a belief in a personal God and if a Mason professed it as their belief what holy book would you use on the altar, a book of flute music?????.....I'd love to watch the degree work and meet the lodge members!.........

Whichever VSL is used, it can represent the beliefs of the candidate as if it were his own... if he had one. It's not the words in the book that make the obligation binding, it's the intent of the candidate.

Masonry is NOT a religion but a Philosophical Institution, the DL that said that to you was misleading you and twisting the Masonic principles. There are ONLY two furrows to be followed here:
a- the English tradition to wit, the Anderson Constitutions.
b- The French trad. to wit, the Grand Orient of France in 1736.
A- Follows 3 points: the belief in a Supreme Being without pertaining itself in what Being might this one Be. In positioning of the Bible on the altar of the Lodge, albeit this was a tradition fostered JUST commencing the second decade of the XIX century since in its stead they used to position the Anderson Const. and lastly, the belief that Women can NOT be Freemasons. There is no mention on the resurrection tenet and even in the Anderson Constitution the word is not written either. Parallel to this Politics and Religion dicussions are prohibited in lodge.
B- Follows a quite opposite direction. Atheist can be Fremasons, Women can be Freemasons and Politics dicussions are allowed as long as the pertain to common good, that is, for the bettering of our society and not just for the sake of argumenting.
Hope this helps.
