Thumbs up The Waiting is the Hardest Part

Greetings Everyone,

My name is Pat O'Brien and I hope to be able to call you all brothers soon. Last month I knocked on the door of Harbor City Lodge #318 and met with many of the lodge officers. They were a great bunch of guys who were very proud of the Craft. They were also very enthusiastic that I wanted to join their loge and made me feel very comfortable. Needless to say I came back after Ritual Practice the following week and tendered my petition. I was honored that the DDGM was there and he signed my petition as a sponsor.

To make a long story short, I made it just in time to have my petition presented to the lodge at the next meeting. However, that lodge "goes dark" for a short period each summer, so they won't get to vote on my petition until the third week of August. While it's true that the waiting is the hardest part, something good is definitely worth waiting for.

I can hardly wait to start my Masonic work and to be part of this historical organization. More importantly, I can't wait to be part of the Masonic family and to seek the light that the degree work teaches.

Travel safely my friends,

Pat O'Brien

That your petition was read in lodge so soon will speed the process up. I am surprised that any lodge would be open to do balloting in August. Normally, July and August is when they shut down. We never had the "ritual practice." The surprise of the EA Degree is saved until the big night. Good luck Pat. It will be worth the wait. Keep us informed.

Mystic Knight,

The ritual practice that night was for EAs or Fellowcraft looking to be passed or raised (I'm not sure which.) I had to stay outside until practice was over. I don't think they are going to give me a clue what to expect until the actual night of my initiation. That's just the way I want it too. I want to "experience" my degree work, not just go through the motions.

Thanks for wishing me good luck, I will be sure to let my future brothers on this board know how things are going. I look forward to "seeking the light", serving my community and getting to know my new "family".

Travel Well,

Pat

The EA Degree is the best. I remember mine. You feel so alive. Electricity in the air. Everything is new and strange. Your identity changes that night. You go through a portal into another world. I like it there.

Re: The Waiting is the Hardest Part

Good day all, My EA degree will be this Thursday Sept 11. I do not know much about what to expect, which is the way I have heard is the best. I have read the "Complete Idiot's Guide to Freemasonry" but it does not tell you what to expect.

Should I know something that I may not know yet?

Thanks

"The waiting is the hardest part
Every day takes one more yard
You take it all in faith
You take it to the heart,
The wai-ting is har-dest... part."

Just go with the flow. I'm sure our brothers wouldn't do anything to embarrass us. I hope.

Good luck!

Just remember in whom you place your trust and that the men in that room are your brothers and fellows...not to woory you are in safe hands.
