Religous Confucianism

Hello everyone / First Post-
Hello - I am a newish mason (3 years) who joined a lodge of older masons, I being 30 years younger than most members. We immediately started moving though the lodge. We struggle to get 7 together for a meeting having 15 members in total (who still live here). I was raised Roman Catholic although I never was confirmed. My parents split and mother became methodist (small m) and father die hard Irish Roman Catholic - doesn't like masons as moms new husband (now "methodist" is a mason was Episcopalian. Which is who's actions as a role model eventually led me to want to be a mason. I have studied Buddhism and believe more closely to a Confucian belief system - although practice no religion publicly. I am finding it difficult to relate as most in my lodge are Methodists. Not to mention they are German and I am an Irish, Irish Roman Catholic Mason. Does it make sense for me to be conflicted? Is this common? I am nervous just posting the question. I can delete if necessary.

Re: Religous Confucianism

Religion should have no bearing on your Masonic life and if anyone says different they do not understand true Freemasonry.

So from what I can gather you (D.W.Brown) are affiliated or promote the Grand Orient of the United States of America? From what I understand it is not recognized by other US lodges? Are members of this lodge considered "Modern" while all others Atients?

Re: Religous Confucianism

I promote Freedom of choice and Freemasonry, it is up to you to choose your destiny. I make no bones about it, there is a real problem within Antient Freemasonry, especially here in the U.S. Not all Brothers are corrupt but there are quite a few and they need to be removed. Yes, in my opinion what I see in the Grand Orient system of Freemasonry, here in the US and around the globe, is truly what real Freemasonry is all about.

That being said, I will give my opinion but I will not be silent either. For instance, I strongly disagree with the Grand Orient system not allowing females to be raised in the lodges. However, in every other respect they do treat them as equals. They can sit in lodge together and work together, recognize each other as Masons.

It is really up to you to choose Antient or Modern (Grand Orient), choose wisely.
