Howdy

When I was but a child, I was told that I could be a Mason if I so chose. I'm approaching thirty years of age, and would like to know where I may contact someone and begin my tentative steps along this path.

Welcome Casey...

First, I would do some research and ask a lot of questions before making this choice.

The question I have for you is, what are you looking to get out of Freemasonry?

Wow, Laudable Pursuit is an amazing document...although I am not in a position yet to really make comments it certainly gives food for thought, the "thinking outside the box" method of future plans...this shall be an interesting day as I was invited to the Lodge that has accepted me for the annual installation of officers...a little "preview" of the organization, it's members and most likely a grand event with all the pomp and circumstance that Masonry has to offer in an official event......

Visiting an open program at a lodge, especially an installation, is a wonderful way to preview a small bit of what goes on. But more important than the ritual is the fellowship among the brethren.

Well, what I'm searching for within Freemasonry is as simple as knowledge and confirmation of personal enlightenments and revelations. There have always been symbols and ideals that have caught my attention, and it seems that many of these are associated with or derived from Freemasonry. Some of the most prominent include the Knights Templar, Ourouborous, and teachings found within works of the Golden Dawn.
Many times while reading, meditating, or learning about something its as though I've known this my entire life. On one note, I would like to know how I know without knowing. As of late, I've not been so big on rituals and excersises, and would like to become more in tune with others who share this sense of being.

I would offer the possibility that you have hit upon some powerful archetypical truths, which have inspired those who have formed many groups over the ages.
