I am Romulus, MI and I have been reading a lot of information on masonry that totally displaced many ignorant reservations that I had about this prestigious fraternity. I'm on fire about this book I read 'Born in Blood' by John J. Robinson. This non-mason and historian made a heck of a case for freemasonry by merely tracing its history. As a result, I am currently looking for a lodge that will receive me into its membership. I was worried because I am of African American descent and didn't know which way to go. I was interacting with some Prince Hall masons that suggested that was the only way to go for a black man but there seems to be some problems with their recognition. I just pray that there is a place in freemasonry that I can fellowship with brothers who are believers in God, are good men, and truly love and support each other. I am profane, my goal is to come out of the darkness as I am a Seeker of Light.

I'm Canadian so I can't really speak for the racial tensions in your area. Best thing to do is to approach a few different lodges to see how they are receptive to men of various skin colors.
In my Lodge, there are men of skin color other than white and religions other than Christian.
There are many out there that are enlightened and value what's inside, not how a person looks.
Good luck friend. I hope you find what you are looking for.
