Aug 27, 2008 - 10:52 PM - by D. W. Brown | Many North Carolina Masons are probably not even aware, we weren't, that on Saturday, January 5, 2008 Nigeria-born, Canada-raised Dr. Joseph Adegboyega began his year as the first black Master of a North Carolina AF&AM lodge in history.
Worshipful Brother Joseph was born December 21, 1951, in Lagos, Nigeria, son of Raphael and Esther Adegboyega. He is the great grandson of King Jimekun of Ondo, of the Osamawe royal family. This family is directly descended from Oduduwa, ruler of the extinct Yoruba empire which once governed a large portion of West Africa.
He was raised in Mount Moriah in Ontario November 17, 1997. In 2000 the Grand Lodge AF&AM of Canada awarded him a Fellowship of the College of Freemasonry.
Worshipful Brother Adegboyega has a philosophical and open attitude toward racial issues. His grandfather had slaves; his mother is a descendant of slaves. “I keep the past in the past. For now, every Nigerian is equal. I look forward to this new status, feeling free of mental enslavement and ready to love and work as a good Freemason, with my brothers here and beyond.”

Aug 24, 2008 - 5:21 PM - by D. W. Brown | The Conference of Grand Masters in North America was held in Feb. 2008. Based on their report there seems to be a growing number of Masons (lodges) breaking ranks with their Grand Lodges and forming their own. Is this necessarily a bad thing? Is it the right of every lodge to govern themselves? You decided. 2008 Report BAJA CALIFORNIA
A serious split exists in the Grand Lodge of Baja California. Two sets of Grand Lodge officers claim to be the legitimate officials of this Grand Lodge. The Confederation of Mexican Grand Lodges and the Interamerican Masonic Confederation has selected Lino Chavez as the legitimate Grand Master. The Grand Lodge of California, after an extensive investigation has determined that Lopez Mendoza is the legitimately elected Grand Master of this Grand Lodge. The Commission applauds the efforts of the Grand Lodge of California in trying to affect a resolution in this situation. It is clear that additional work must be done to resolve this problem. The two sets of Officers must work toward a unification agreement for the good of Freemasonry in Baja California. Until that occurs, we would recommend restraint in establishing further fraternal relations with this Grand Lodge. BULGARIA
Freemasonry continues to function in two Grand Lodges in Bulgaria, namely the United Grand Lodge of Bulgaria , and the Grand Lodge of Bulgaria. The Grand Lodge of Bulgaria with Grand Master Alexandrov has asked the Commission to advise on the regularity of their Grand Lodge. We must state again that even though a Grand Lodge may practice regular Masonry, we only determine whether the Grand Lodge meets all the standards for recognition, as established by this Conference. The Commission has for the past several years strongly encouraged the two Grand Lodges to actively meet and work toward the resolution of their differences and unification of their Grand Lodges for the best interests of Bulgarian Masonry. These attempts have not been successful largely due to some unusual demands on the part of the United Grand Lodge of Bulgaria. We now recommend that another joint meeting be scheduled within the next six months to work toward resolution of this problem. We further recommend that Bros. Jean-Claude Tardivat of the GLNF, Robert Heyat of the District of Columbia, and Thomas... [Read More] |

Aug 24, 2008 - 4:11 PM - by D. W. Brown | Another "Magazine Politician" has been spending too much time reading Anti-Masonic web sites again and getting sucked into the realm of the unenlightened. Jim Corr a guitarist from a band in the UK called Corr (seems he is the only musician in the group) has spoken out about the World Wide Masonic movement to create a New World Order (government). Jim even eludes in an interview that the European Union is but just one of the attempts to do this along with his belief that Canada, Mexico and the United States will form the North American Union under one government. |
