However, Freemasonry is not without it's radical side either and some of those believe that you have to have a belief in a single supreme entity. Heck I was even told initially that you had to believe in the resurrection of the body, which I later found out to be untrue.
No one entity, lodge or GL speaks for Freemasonry as a whole, even though many feel they do and try to control the minds of their flock, for lack of a better term. There are Atheist who are Freemasons, even Benjamin Franklin considered himself a Deist during the majority of his life after leaving Boston when he was 17. His primary goal in leaving, other than a disagreement with his blood brother and father, was to find a town that was more tolerant of free thinkers. Which is one of the reasons he considered Philly his home, thank goodness he did or things could have been quite different for us now. |
